Marylebone is one of my favourite areas in London to train and walk dogs. It has that village feel in the middle of the city, and there are some really nice parks and cafés that are perfect for socialisation and training. I’ve worked with quite a few dogs in Marylebone over the years, and it’s a great area for building focus and calm behaviour in busy environments.
Regent’s Park
Regent’s Park is easily one of the best places in London for dog training. There’s so much open space to practise recall and obedience, and it’s well maintained which makes it a comfortable environment for both you and your dog. When I’m training recall here, I like to use long lines at first so the dog can move freely but still stay safe. The park is full of interesting smells and wildlife, so it’s a good challenge for focus work too.
Paddington Street Gardens
Right in the centre of Marylebone, Paddington Street Gardens is perfect for shorter training sessions. It’s a lovely little park where you can practise focus, loose-lead walking and calm sits around gentle distractions. I often use this space with clients who want to build their dog’s patience in real-world environments.
Dog-Friendly Cafés
Marylebone is full of great cafés that welcome dogs, and they’re brilliant places to practise calm behaviour. The Ivy Café, Aubaine and Gail’s Bakery are all dog-friendly and relaxed, which makes them perfect for training your dog to settle under the table while you grab a coffee. If your dog struggles with staying calm in public, café stops like these are fantastic real-life training opportunities.
Marylebone Village Loop
The streets around Marylebone Village make a great walking loop for city-based training. There are enough people and sounds to test your dog’s focus but it never feels overwhelming. I often bring clients here to work on “leave it”, recall and polite greetings with strangers.
Bringing Training into Everyday Life
The best thing about training in Marylebone is that it feels natural. You can weave lead work, engagement and calm behaviour into your normal routine without needing to drive anywhere special. A few minutes of focused practice every day really adds up.
If you live in Marylebone and want to improve your dog’s focus, recall or lead manners, I offer one-to-one training sessions in the area. Whether you’ve got a new puppy or an adult dog that needs a bit of guidance, I can help make your walks smoother and more enjoyable
