Top Dog Walking Routes in Kensington: Parks and Safe Spaces to Train Recall

Kensington is full of beautiful parks and open spaces, which makes it a fantastic place to train and walk dogs. I’ve worked with lots of owners in this area who want reliable recall and better focus, and there’s no shortage of great routes for building those skills.

Kensington Gardens

Kensington Gardens is one of my favourite spots for recall training. It’s big, open and peaceful enough that you can get solid work done without too many distractions. When I’m working on recall here, I start with a long line until the dog is responding confidently, then progress to off-lead work. It’s also a great spot for focus training and loose-lead walking on wide paths.

Holland Park

Holland Park offers a lovely mix of wooded areas and open spaces. I often use it for obedience sessions and engagement training. There are enough natural distractions – people, birds and other dogs – to make it realistic without it feeling chaotic. It’s also a great park for social walks if you want your dog to practise staying calm around others.

Hyde Park (South Side)

Hyde Park’s southern side is close to Kensington and works well for dogs that need a bit more energy on their walks. There’s lots of room to run and plenty of space to practise recall with mild distractions around. I often use this area for dogs that are building confidence off the lead.

Dog-Friendly Stops

If you fancy a coffee or lunch after training, The Builders Arms and The Britannia are both welcoming to dogs and great for practising calm behaviour while you rest. Café and pub stops are great real-world tests of patience and focus after an active walk.

Making Training Part of Every Walk

One of the things I always tell clients in Kensington is that you don’t need to separate walks and training. The best progress comes when you blend them together. A few minutes of recall or heelwork practice in the middle of a relaxed walk keeps your dog engaged and learning.

If you’re in Kensington and want help improving recall, lead manners or general focus, I offer one-to-one dog training and walking sessions in the area. We can use your usual walking routes and parks so your dog learns in the environments that matter most.
